
Do I Qualify?
Member Qualifications
For a member to qualify for the Adult Foster Care program they must:​

Be at least 16 years of age or older
-
Need supervision due to weakness, illness, physical or intellectual disability, mental health/behavioral condition or advanced age

Be enrolled with MassHealth Standard health insurance
-
Need assistance (in the form of prompting, cueing or hands on aid) with at least 1 of the following daily functions. These types of tasks include:

Ambulating (walking)

Dressing
-
Toileting
-
Bathing
-
Eating
-
Transferring
-
Transportation to medical appointments

Caregiver Qualifications:
For a caregiver to qualify for the Adult Foster Care program they must:​​

Be at least 18 years of age or older
-
Live in the same household as the qualifying member (can be family or not)

Not be the spouse or court ordered legal guardian of the qualifying member

Legal guardian is not the same as a parent - but some parents are court ordered legal guardians (however, another adult in the household can serve as the caregiver)
-
Siblings, parents, adult children, unmarried partners, roommates, or acquaintances of a member who live in the same household are acceptable relations to serve as a caregiver

Household Qualifications:
For the home that the caregiver and member live in to qualify for the Adult Foster Care program it must:​​

Be in the state of Massachusetts
-
Be the primary residence of both the caregiver and the member
